HEWITT WON HIS FIRST IN US OPEN

Lleyton Hewitt began his summer hard-court campaign with victory over US wildcard Donald Young at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington DC.
Hewitt, contesting his first tournament since losing to Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, reached round two with a 7-5 6-2 win.
Russia's Mikhail Youzhny required three sets to overcome Robert Kendrick, eventually prevailing 7-5 3-6 6-1.
Philipp Petzschner came from behind to beat Teimuraz Gabashvili 4-6 6-3 6-4.
Former world number one Hewitt, 28, the 2004 champion in Washington, said: "It's always hard after a few weeks off, so it's nice to get through in straight sets."

Top seed Andy Roddick, a three-times winner of the event, will play either fellow American Robby Ginepri or Benjamin Becker of Germany in his first match on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, British number two Alex Bogdanovic enjoyed a morale-boosting win in round one of the Odlum Brown Van Open in Vancouver.
The 25-year-old left-hander beat Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling 6-2 5-7 7-5 to set up a second-round meeting with American Scoville Jenkins.

HEWITT REACHED 500 MARK

Lleyton Hewitt was the man in Form and he just now passed the 500 mark in the total number of matches won and he became the third player to reach the 500 mark after Roger Federer (638) and Carlos Moya (573). Hewitt was very happy with his performance and this life time achievement. Hewitt reached 500 victory against Philipp Petzschner 6-2, 6-7(2), 7-6(8) in the opening round of the BMW open. This match went on for 2 hours and 34 minutes and finally it gave a positive result to Hewitt.

Hewitt was playing hard tennis after his hip injury and he wants to come back in top 10, who is currently in No.55.

Hewitt now has a 500-170 career record, which includes two major titles.

Hewitt won his 499th match by winning a US red clay court championship after 2 years. He wins over Wayne Odesnik easily and in straight sets 6-2 and 7-5. Hewitt is making a close day by day to Carlos and Roger in his total number of matches won. They are 573 and 634 respectively. Hewitt is from Australia and it really proud Australians. Hewitt ranks 35th on the career victories list. He had a hip surgery last year so he cannot win a tournament last year. Hewitt is such a hard worker and he told that he hard work makes it happen. Odesnik is never an easy player to beat. All points were very tough to get against him and he dont cheaply miss out any points.
