SAFINA CRUSHED IN ORDINA OPEN SEMIFINALS

Dinara Safina, world number one surprisely out of the Ordina open against unseeded Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn in the semifinals 7-5, 7-5. The match was so tough that it could turn to either way as it was the last game break in both the sets.

Tanasugarn, 32, beat Safina in the final of this event last year and once again proved too much for the Russian.

World number 42 Tanasugarn will meet Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer in the final after she beat Italy's Francesca Schiavone 7-6 (7-3) 2-6 6-3.

It will be the third time the 19-year-old Belgian Wickmayer - ranked 72 in the world - will contest a WTA final having lost to Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko in Birmingham, though she won in Estoril last year.

Safina must now pick herself up in time for the start of Wimbledon this Monday, as she goes in search of her first Grand slam title.
